Angela Nelson has been actively involved with world missions since her graduation from Liberty University in 2001. Her training and missions projects have taken her to several Muslim communities in New Jersey, the Russian countryside, the Yucatan peninsula, and most recently -- the Kenyan bush.
When Angela started learning about the rich culture yet empty religion of Islam, God first opened her eyes to something bigger than her own life, ideas and plans. She began a journey to learn more about every tribe and nation that God created -- and how she could be a part of declaring God's glory to these people so that they could receive the abundant life that Christ talks about in John 10:10.
Angela spent a year in Ft. Myers, FL, interning in the Public Relations department of ECHO, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing agricultural support and training to missionaries and development workers overseas. there, she was able to use her graphics and journalism abilities to facilitate ECHO's mission.
While in FL, Angela met several NMSI (New Mission Systems International) missionaries at a "Perspectives on the World Christian Movement" class. God supplied the money for Angela to go on short-term projects to Russia and Kenya with NMSI, leading her to join with them in their work around the world.
NMSI has been in need of someone to publish their ministry magazine for several years now. Angela is the Senior Editor for the NMSI Newslink, and will be in charge of communicating NMSI's world involvement through the magazine. Her degree in journalism and previous newspaper experience combined with her training in world missions have been God's excellent providence in preparing her for this ministry.
Angela's secondary tasks will include leading NMSI interns on short-term projects overseas and other writing assignments such as grants for the Africa Hope ministry to AIDS orphans. She is based at NMSI's Center for Global Outreach in Ft. Myers, FL.
