Below you will find answers to some typical questions that parents with infants and toddlers may have about our nursery and toddler rooms. More questions are welcome – please contact our Nursery Director to address any other questions not listed below.
Why the nursery? MNC desires to help you train up your children to enjoy life with God and others. We believe discipleship begins at birth. So, for those children under 3 yrs of age, we provide nursery services, not for the purpose of "babysitting" while adults enjoy ministry, but so we can minister to these children at their level, each time they walk through the doors of Metro North Church.
What’s in it? We strive to maintain a safe, healthy, happy atmosphere with age-appropriate toys and watchful, loving supervision.
What age is it for? The nursery is available for infants up to 18 months old. The toddler room is for children 18 - 36 months.
Where is it? As you enter through the main double doors, the nursery and toddler rooms are to your right on the main hall, between the entrance and the bathrooms.
Who works there? On Sundays, each nursery is staffed by 2 or 3 volunteers from the congregation. Student volunteers are welcome to serve, but (minimally) are in 7th grade/13 yrs old. There is always (at least) one adult volunteer in each nursery each Sunday morning. Background checks are performed on children’s ministry/nursery volunteers.
What is MNC’s well child policy? Please bring only well children. Please do not leave your child in the nursery if in the past 24 hours he/she experienced a green, runny nose, fever, open sores/rash (other than a mild diaper or heat rash), diarrhea and/or vomiting.
What about snacks? We provide snacks for those in our toddler nursery only. So if you have any concerns, please be sure to ask.
When do I bring my child? The most convenient times to bring your baby in the nursery is just before the worship service.
What do I do then? Always sign your child in. For your baby’s protection, only you (or someone specified by you at sign in) may pick up your child. Please write out any special instructions/concerns/things we should be aware AND inform the volunteers verbally.
What do I bring? Bring everything your child will need, i.e. diaper bag with diapers, wipes, sippy cup/bottle, formula, change of clothes, etc. Please label diaper bag, cups and bottles. Please do not bring toys from home.
Who do I ask? If you have other questions or concerns at anytime, or if you are interested in volunteering, contact our nursery coordinator Aileen Burgeson at 270-2610 or Director of Family Ministries Susanne Grose.
1st time? Still hesitant? Anxiety in children (and parents!) is normal. Anxious children often settle down after parents leave, so just ask for a pager and let us know where you’ll be sitting. If crying persists or the child needs you, we will call you.
