After 20+ years as an Emergency room nurse in the military and civilian spheres, Howard was called by Metro North as the Senior Pastor in March of 2014.He received his BSN from Biola University in SoCal, met and married Alleyn in 1993 and went on to serve as an officer in the Air Force. In May of 2010, he received his MDIV from RTS in Charlotte, NC. He enjoys helping people connect the Christian faith with the realities of everyday life, movies, good books, and diet Coke. Howard and Alleyn have 5 children; Taryn (engaged to Drew), Stephen, Paige, Christopher, Samuel and 2 playful Westies, Rocky Balboa and Eleven Elliot a.k.a "EL".
ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF MINISTRIES
John was called to Metro North as the Director of Student Ministries in 1996. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a BA in Industrial Engineering. He married his wife Jacqui in 1984 and finished a MA in Educational Ministries in 1988 while at Wheaton Graduate School. He was ordained in 2005 after finishing his MDIV at Columbia Seminary. John and Jacqui have ministered to youth for 35+ years. They have 4 children and two daughters-in-law and one awesome grandson (Ransom); T.J. (married to Elizabeth), Jeremy (married to Courtney), Liz, and Stephanie.
Barbara received her Bachelors in Education from the College of Charleston in 1993. Since then Barbara has taught, served as the director of a small private school and child care center and spent time as a stay-at-home mom. After eight years on staff at Metro North School, Barbara was hired as the Executive Director in the Fall of 2013. In Spring of 2017, she added Executive Director of Metro North Church to her title. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Jim, and they have two children, Matthew and Nicholas.
Debra started leading Metro KIDS ministry in January of 2014. She received her nursing degree from Trident Technical College in 1988. She is married to David Braun. They have three children and one son-in-law; Hannah(who is married to Kyle), Franklin and John Henry. She has always had a heart for children's ministry and has served in previous other churches as a preschool Sunday school teacher and as a Nursery Coordinator. In addition to leading our children's ministries, Debra also works for Metro North School, a ministry of Metro North Church.
ASSISTANT SLAM DIRECTOR
Tyler joined the staff at Metro North in April 2016 as the Assistant SLAM Director. A native to Charleston, Tyler earned his BA in Religion and Youth Ministry from Charleston Southern University in 2009. He is currently pursuing an MA degree in Christian Studies from CSU. He recently married his wife Tracey in December 2016. Tyler enjoys learning theology, sci-fi movies that involve most super heroes and Star Wars, being “tech savvy” with the latest gadgets and computers, yard work/home improvement, and spending time outdoors.
Arline joined Metro North Church as their Office Administrator in April of 2011. Prior to this, Arline was a stay-at-home mom for 6 years and an Executive Secretary for Naval Facilities Engineering Command in Charleston for 9 years. Arline earned her BS in Management from Kaplan University in 2006. Arline and her husband, Gary, have been married since 2005. They have 2 children and a son-in-law: Julianna (who is married to Gustavo) and Noah.
Tonya began as the Financial Adm. at Metro North in Nov of 2014. She has lived in SC for most of her life, and has been attending MNC since 1997. Tonya has been a self-employed accountant for 21 years. She is also a licensed Gen. Contractor and works as a project manager for Ironwood Construction. Tonya is married to David, together they have 4 children, Rebekah, Ashton, Betsy,(married to Michael) and Michael (married to Kristi) and three grandsons, Micah, Grey, and Holden.
ADMINISTRATOR OF MEDIA AND ASSIMILATION
Amanda, a Baltimore, MD native, moved to the Charleston area in April 2016 and began attending Metro soon after. She earned her BA in History from Marymount University in 2011 and is currently pursuing her MA from Johns Hopkins University. She previously worked as museum curator for the Babe Ruth Birthplace and as a Program Coordinator for The Arc Carroll County serving adults with developmental disabilities. She and her husband, Coleman, were married in December 2016 and recently adopted a lab mix puppy, Austen. Amanda can usually be found testing new recipes in the kitchen, attending outdoor concerts, or hiking in the mountains.
Interim WORSHIP DIRECTOR
Justin grew up in Rock Hill, SC playing banjo at bluegrass festivals. He studied choral education and jazz guitar at Winthrop University where he met his wife Emily, another musician. They were married in 2010 and have served in various ministries throughout the Charleston area. Justin finished his degree in Music and Worship Leadership at Charleston Southern University. Their 2-year old daughter Sadie and coonhound Piper take up most of their time.
